It's been an incredibly busy few weeks of pushing through life at the IRS alongside a few hours of freelance work here & there. Yes, I'm adamant that I will make some coins while here in Austin but certainly haven't forgotten how to ride my bike and have some fun, too. A few Saturdays ago, I walked 6 miles of the Violet Crown Trail, Austin's newest trail system that once completed will be a 30-mile trail through the urban wildlands. While the city continues to have growing pains, they are not forgetting about green space! Last week I played hooky for a day and drove 2 hours out to hill country to Enchanted Rock. Legend has it that the Tonkawa Indians named this 425-foot pink granite batholith believing a Spanish conquistador cast a spell on it, making magical ghost fires glow at the top. It was a lovely day of trail hiking at a time when the wildflowers were at their absolute best. On the way home, I also made a stop in the town of Llano, "the deer capital of Texas" (population 3,232). While I am indeed ready to return to life on the road, my Austin list continues!

Judy: Happy to read that you are out and about. Cannot picture you cooped up in that IRS office. Unique photos that capture places unseen by most.

As usual, I'm loving your photos. The wild flowers are beautiful, the scenery along the trails, the granite. I would never have guessed that Texas could be so pretty having only been to Dallas.

Hey girlfriend! You can expect one finale blog entry at month's end before I hit the road! Funny that you mention pie as I just found a spot in Hamilton, Ontario that I can bike to just for that reason!!! :)

Austin suits you. A wild child like you and the IRS, hard to believe. With your inspiration, I leaving for Nepal next week to do some work in orphanages and hike to Everest Base Camp with Gods help! You should know that when I go to the Easton Diner I think of you. Oh yes make sure you have 8 potato chips tomorrow, and only 8!
