Professional Writer, Lifelong Teacher (& Learner)
Do what you love, and do it often.
How I spend my time and energy has as much to do with who I am, as the combination of skills, knowledge and experience I've gained through the years. In my work, and while at play, I follow my joys and passions.
The urge to write.
My love for writing began with high school poetry, and while in college, I secretly wished to be an international correspondent. While I chose a different path, I have found my voice in a number of ways. I've been a professional writer for more than two decades as a marketing strategist, event manager, PR expert, and freelancer, so my experience and skills extend to a wide range of writing styles. Always a teacher.
As a child, I liked to “play school” after school, and as an adult, I earned a Master's in Education. While my full-time teaching career lasted 4 years, I've remained a teacher in many ways. As an ad agency executive, I trained college interns. As a corporate marketing professional, I taught continuing education courses. As a personal trainer, I coached clients on proper form, sports training, and nutrition. Most recently, I enjoyed substitute teaching for the Chesapeake College Adult Education and English as a Second Language program. You get the picture - a teacher must always teach.
Life on two wheels.
In my community, I’m the go-to gal when you have a question about bicycling. Pedaling long distances is as easy as breathing, and brings me great joy! Cycling also offers a way for me to support great causes at events, to encourage others to get outdoors, and to spread the word on sharing the road. In 2004, I became a certified personal trainer to help others find their path to a healthy, active lifestyle. Find details here.
