It is my fourth winter on the picturesque Sebastian Inlet, and I was very lucky to put up the tent for a three-week visit. When I arrived, I had two items on my agenda that I haven't found time to do in the past -- a ranger-led kayak trip, and a bike ride on the Historic Jungle Trail, built in the 1920s so citrus growers could haul produce up and down the barrier island. Of course, I found much more to do, like visit the Environmental Learning Center (ELC), attend a "how to surf fish" workshop at the State Park, bike, read, work, swim, walk the shore, and spend time with interesting people. Listening to a Vermont family playing beautiful music has me planning to play the flute one day. A conversation with two birthday boys who were sharing a fishing weekend, has me motivated to start writing the book! The excitement of three kids from Michigan, who caught 5 fish in a net in 10 minutes, has me wondering why I'm not into the sport. While the weekends seem to be getting busier here, it was great to see a number of acquaintances, and meet new ones, in this special place. I'm now on the "mainland" in Sebastian for my sixth consecutive week in the infamous tent, and doing just fine.

Judy: You must be loving the free stuff and can definitely picture you now fishing. Know Paul was excited to be clamming and shrimping for free shellfish in SC.

I thank you for that encouragement!!! Pondering angles and throwing words on paper. It's harder than it looks :).
